How To Find Your Frelancing Niche

HOW TO FIND YOUR FREELANCING NICHE [PART 1]

A few days ago I wrote a post on “how to start freelancing” now this is a follow up on that post.

“Today you will read about the different types of freelancing – In this post you will discover the secrets to finding your freelancing niche”

Note: “If you’ve already found your niche, leave a comment at the end of this post, and tell us what it is and how you found it”

You’ve all heard the phrase, “if you try to be good at everything, you’ll be excellent at nothing.” – April Greer.

So therefore the need for specialising in a particular area and Finding your niche.

Before talking about “the secrets to finding your freelancing niche”, I would like to lay a prior foundation for you on the different types of freelancing.

So, let’s get started.

TYPES OF FREELANCING

In the previous post, I listed a number of freelancing types which someone could venture into and make money from. Today I will be explaining further on the various types of freelancing and also include some that were not included in the previous post.

  • Travel Writer - you don’t necessarily need to have training in this area just passion and a way with words! I have come across some amazing opportunities to get your writing out there. One great website is HARO (Help A Reporter Out), you can register here and they send you stories that reporters are after - if one suits you and your skill set you send in your proposal - how knows you may end up in the New York Times (it has happened!).

  • English Teacher - one of the best qualifications you can get if you want to work overseas is your TESOL or TEFL Certification. You can get this prior to your arrival, there are some great online courses like i-to-i's OnlineTEFL course or some countries will have places where you can do your qualifications in country.

  • Graphic Designer - providing you have clients and your equipment you can take your graphic design business on the road on a freelance basis!

  • Blogger - you can blog about "ANYTHING" - it doesn’t have to be a travel blog - everyday people are making a living through their blogs. I just did a search of blogs and found one dedicated to hung-over owls - photos of owls looking hung-over - surely there is a niche out there with your name on it!!! Before you get started I would HIGHLY recommend checking out "Derek Halpern’s website Social Triggers".

  • Photographer - got a camera, got a Smartphone? Why not try your hand at freelance photography!!! I have found some amazing websites where you can sell your pictures. My favourite is Society 6 where the process is so simple - you upload your image, put what mark up or profit you would like customers browse, put in an order, Society 6 prints it, mounts it or turns it into an iPhone cover, cushion or t-shirt and then posts it for you! Easy...

  • Elance worker - if you haven’t checked out Elance, you definitely should. They claim to be the number one site for freelance workers. Categories range from IT, design, writing, sales through to admin support and everything in between!

  • Musician - OK so you will probably need to have some skills to follow this path but if you are already a musician there is no reason why you couldn’t take your talents on the road!

  • Author - everyone has a story to tell, an interest or passion. If you are a freelancer, you can write about how you made your first pay, the steps you took and the problems you encountered. Whatever it is that you know and it’s useful, write about it! Where does your mind go when you day dream? This is a good place to start.

  • Interpreter - again you will have to have a pretty specific skill set but if you are bi-lingual you could use those skills not only in foreign countries but also in your home country! There are also a lot of jobs calling for interpreters on Elance so you could use your skills and work from anywhere!

  • Film Maker - if you have a camera, Smartphone, gopro etc you can become a film maker! It is easy to create your own Youtube channel and upload your videos - believe me if I can do it anyone can!!!

  • YouTube sensation - you don’t necessarily have to be a film maker in the making to be a You Tube sensation. As I am sure we all know there are some crazy clips of random things that have millions of hits. Usually just a case of being in the right place at the right time, so always have you camera or phone at the ready!

  • Etsy Shop Owner - check out Etsy - an amazing online store where up and coming designers and craftspeople sell their wares. Another option here is to source amazing things from your travels and sell them through your Etsy store if you aren’t all that creative!

OTHER TYPES OF FREELANCING

Other types of freelancing include:

  • NGO worker
  • Volunteer
  • Virtual Assistant
  • Tour guide
  • Busker
  • Yoga Instructor
  • Face painter

Now that you are fully grounded on the various types of freelancing, how about you tell us how this post has helped you in your freelancing career in the comment box below.

Galaxy S8 vs. iPhone 7 Plus speed test: It’s not even close

Galaxy S8 vs. iPhone 7 Plus speed test: It’s not even close

Last week we showed you one of the first real world speed test videos to pit the new Galaxy S8 against the reigning speed champion, Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus. Unfortunately, we also explained why it was one of the worst speed test videos we had ever seen. None of these YouTube speed test videos are scientific, of course, but some tests are far more controlled than others. In this particular test, the narrator just tapped a bunch of apps and tried to eyeball which one opened faster each time.
We were still waiting for some of the more experienced YouTube gadget vloggers to share their speed test results, and now we have a much better test to share. And to be quite frank, the results are shocking.

Each year when new flagship Android phones are released, tech fans scratch their heads as they fail to best Apple’s iPhones. On paper, iPhones have much less impressive specs, and yet Apple always manages to deliver the smoothest possible user experience time and time again.
This year, Samsung’s new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ completely crush Apple’s iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in terms of multi-core benchmark tests, though they still lagged behind Apple in single-core tests. In theory, that should mean Samsung’s new phones might be slower than iPhones at simple tasks, but the new Galaxy S8 phones should be clear leaders when it comes to heavy lifting like launching games and rendering 4K video. According to the results of a new real world speed test from YouTuber EverythingApplePro, that’s not the case at all.
The speed test video below shows the Galaxy S8 pitted against the iPhone 7 Plus in a number of different ways. While the competition is close at times, it’s not close at all in the long run. The most interesting parts of the video show that Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus is much faster than the Galaxy S8 when it comes to things like rendering 4K video and launching graphics-heavy games. Anyone who had seen earlier multi-core benchmark tests would certainly have expected the opposite to be the case.
Check out the full video, which is embedded below.

Kendall Jenner and Paris Jackson Spotted Shopping Together

Kendall Jenner and Paris Jackson Spotted Shopping Together

Paris Jackson (Michael Jackson’s 18-year-old daughter) has had a meteoric rise to stardom this year. She walked the biggest red carpets of awards season, sat front row at fashion week and landed her own modeling contract with IMG Models (and it’s only March!). And now, she’s following the logical next step to reaching full “It” girl status by joining Kendall Jenner’s model squad!
Jackson and Jenner were spotted shopping together at a flea market in L.A., which means it will probably be mere minutes before Jackson starts hanging out with the rest of the supermodel crew, which includes Gigi and Bella Hadid, Hailey Baldwin, Lily Donaldson and more.
The duo was already in sync with their coordinating outfits, each wearing green top and blue jeans. But Jenner went more refined with her high-waisted mom jeans and bright crewneck sweater, while Jackson stuck to her boho style with ultra-distressed denim, a long-sleeve tee and sweater tied around her waist.
While it makes sense that Jenner would be a good mentor for Jackson (they both come from high-profile families), Jackson has already befriended (and impressed!) some other big-name models, include Naomi Campbell, who recently said she feels “in her gut” that Jackson will be a “brilliant” actress.
Over the weekend Jackson got into some other model behavior by getting a BFF tattoo with her brother, Prince Jackson. The two got coordinating tattoos of the Chinese symbol of Yin and Yang, to represent the balance they bring to one another. “Sometimes i feel like my big brother and i always think the same thoughts, he just doesn’t have a filter and always vocalizes them x1F602; though total opposites, like my gooko and i, the inseparable yin and yang work together finding and causing balance within each other. matchies with my bestie,” she wrote on Instagram.
What do you think of Jenner and Jackson’s friendship?

Your furry family, that is. Miley Cyrus and fiancé Liam Hemsworth are big animal lovers, so it's no surprise that the couple has their pups, Mary Jane and Dora, join them on their workouts.
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth were spotted walking with pups, Mary Jane and Dora, in Los Angeles on Thursday.
Cyrus rocked a red sports bra - revealing her enviable abs - and matching short-shorts, with her hair tied in a high ponytail. Hemsworth opted for a plain white T-shirt and shorts.
The “Wrecking Ball” singer, 24, has shouted out the animals the couple shares - Cyrus has rescued dogs, cats, and even a pig on top of Hemsworth’s pooches - in a sweet Instagram for her fiancé’s 27th birthday, which featured weed-themed gift bags.
“Happiest birthday EVER to my favorite being EVER EVER EVER!” Cyrus captioned the photo. “You have been my best friend since the day we met..... I am beyond lucky to share sooooo [many] animals with you!!! I love you @liamhemsworth.”
After ending their engagement in 2013, Cyrus and Hemsworth rekindled their romance in early 2016.

North Korea vows response to 'reckless' US Navy move

North Korea vows response to 'reckless' US Navy move

Seoul (AFP) - North Korea denounced the US deployment of a naval strike group to the region Tuesday, warning it is ready for "war" as Washington tightens the screws on the nuclear-armed state.
The strike group -- which includes the Nimitz-class aircraft supercarrier USS Carl Vinson -- cancelled a planned trip to Australia this weekend to head to the Korean peninsula in a show of force.
"This goes to prove that the US reckless moves for invading the DPRK have reached a serious phase," a spokesman for the North's foreign ministry said according to state news agency KCNA.
"The DPRK is ready to react to any mode of war desired by the US," he said, using the country's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
President Donald Trump, fresh from ordering a missile strike on Syria that was widely interpreted as a warning to North Korea, has asked his advisors for a range of options to rein in Pyongyang, a top US official said Sunday.
Trump has previously threatened unilateral action against Pyongyang if China -- the North's sole major ally -- fails to help curb its neighbour's nuclear weapons ambitions.
But Pyongyang's response suggested the reclusive state is determined to continue on its current path, despite repeated rounds of United Nations sanctions.
"We will take the toughest counteraction against the provocateurs in order to defend ourselves by powerful force of arms," the foreign ministry spokesman said.
"We will hold the US wholly accountable for the catastrophic consequences to be entailed by its outrageous actions."
- Sixth test? -
Speculation over an imminent nuclear test is brewing as the North marks anniversaries including the 105th birthday of its late founding leader on Saturday -- sometimes celebrated with a demonstration of military might.
The South's prime minister and acting president warned Tuesday of a "grave provocation" by the North to coincide with other anniversaries, including the April 25 foundation day for its army.
"There is a possibility that the North launches more grave provocations such as another nuclear test to mark a number of anniversaries," Hwang Kyo-Ahn said in a cabinet meeting.
The current surge in tensions also coincided with the scheduled gathering Tuesday of the North's parliament, which meets once or twice a year to rubber-stamp budgets or overhaul of state organs and personnel.
The last meeting was held in June 2016 when the leader Kim Jong-Un was elected chairman of a new, supreme governing commission -- underlining his absolute control over state policy.
Pyongyang is on a quest to develop a long-range missile capable of hitting the US mainland with a nuclear warhead, and has so far staged five nuclear tests, two of them last year.
Satellite imagery analysis suggests it could be preparing for a sixth, with intelligence officials warning it could be less than two years away from achieving the ability to strike the continental United States.
South Korea's top nuclear envoy said Monday after talks with his Chinese counterpart that the two nations had agreed to "strong" new measures to punish Pyongyang if it carried out another nuclear test.
The talks came shortly after Trump hosted Chinese leader Xi Jinping for a summit at which he pressed Beijing to do more to curb the North's nuclear ambitions.
"(We) are prepared to chart our own course if this is something China is just unable to coordinate with us," US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said after the summit.
US National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster on Sunday criticised North Korea as a rogue nation engaged in provocative behaviour and said denuclearisation of the peninsula "must happen".
"The president has asked them to be prepared to give us a full range of options to remove that threat," he said on Fox News, apparently referring to Trump's advisers.
South Korea's Unification Minister Hong Yong-Pyo said Monday that the repercussions of a potential military response were worrying.
"Pre-emptive strikes may be aimed at resolving North Korea's nuclear problems, but for us, it is also related to defending the safety of the public," he told reporters.
While a US unilateral strike on North Korea from a shorter range might be more effective, it would likely endanger many civilians in the South and risk triggering a broader military conflict, experts warn.
